The Birth of New Art
In ROMANCE DU ART NOUVEAU, the oriental elements of ukiyo-e meet the resplendent touches of Art Nouveau, reigniting the magic of modern Art Nouveau in the 21st century.
When artists of the Western world first encountered Japanese ukiyo-e paintings and woodblock prints, they were struck by their irregularity, curved lines and vibrant colours. The ukiyo-e style was vastly different from the prevailing historical styles in Europe. Ukiyo-e art strongly influenced the birth of the Art Nouveau (“new art” in French) movement. Art Nouveau, defined by linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms, set off new directions for many artists. These included Antonio Gaudi, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet.
La Sagrada
One of Simone’s signature creations, this necklace draws inspiration from the majestic Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona. Gaudí, the architect, sought to weave the essence of nature into human spaces - culminating in curvilinear forms and voluptuous textures. Adorned with chalcedony and diamonds, the detachable pendant features a stunning 5.81-carat Columbian Emerald at the centre, reminiscent of the vibrant hues that cascade through the cathedral’s stained glass windows.
The Romance of Precious Stones
This opulent necklace embodies Simone’s masterful reimagining of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. With its sinuous lines and vibrant bursts of color, it elegantly channels the essence of nature into an exquisite design. The artistry of setting a gem within a gem is showcased through the fusion of Chrome Tourmalines embedded within Mother of Pearl. Completed with turquoise, diamonds, pearls, and intricate enamel work, this necklace stands out as a mesmerizing piece of sensual ornamentation, replete with enchanting details.
